Zuri is the boy we kept from Makena's first litter. His name means ' shows great promise' and ' good looking!'

2006:

This is the year that Zuri took on his mum Makena and started to beat her for Best of Breed awards. He is maturing well, although still not finished yet. He has been awarded numerous Class in Groups at shows we entered this year also attaining the final points towards his Australian Champion title in March.

We slowed down on the show front this year due to the decision to move house and try to sell our old one. Dog shows were put on hold for a vast majority of winter and spring. It is now warming up and the show season is slowing down. I decided to do one last weekend of shows in early November. There was an International panel of judges, but I knew the grounds would be very hot as this particular show is always known for being hot. The first day Zuri again beat Makena for Best of Breed. The second day we decided to leave Makena at home, as it was a very hot day, and she has nothing left to prove in the ring. It also gave Padme a chance to get some points without having to take on her more mature mother. It was a big entry in group 4 and I didn't even contemplate that we would achieve anything in group. Zuri won Best of Breed and then went on to win Best in Group (and I was on the end of the lead, as Amanda had to handle a Basset Hound for the Group lineup!) He then gave Reserve in Show a nudge, but was pipped at the post! He was then awarded Intermediate in Show! Not a bad way for him to finish off his 2006 show season!

We hope to be out more in 2007 with Zuri and his half sister Padme.

2005:

Zuri had a good year. He was well on his way towards his Australian Championship amassing numerous Class in Group awards along the way. He still wasn't mature enough to beat his mum for Best of Breed at most meetings, but he certainly gave her competition for the award. He was also awarded Reserve in Group at the Gold Coast Show in August of this year.

2004:

Zuri has begun his show career in fine style! From his first 3 shows in August, he was awarded Baby of Breed at 2 of them!

Zuri competed in his last class as a Baby (November 20, 2004), and finished in style, taking out Baby Puppy in Group, which was sweetened even more with his mum, Makena, being awarded Best of Breed and Open in Group as well! He has moved on from there being awarded 1st and 2nd prizes in Puppy Sweepstakes, as well as 1st in the Queensland Classic which sees him qualified for the Brisbane Royal Show. He has also been awarded Challenge Dog under Breed Specialist Judge: Ms Patrice Johanssen (Jomeja Rhodesian Ridgebacks), and already is on his way towards his Australian Championship title.

Sakina has made her show debut in style in Melbourne, being awarded Best Baby Puppy in Show at the Rhodesian Ridgeback Open Specialty! Congrats Sakina and Merlene! She has followed this with a Puppy in Show at the Melbourne Championship Specialty 2005, under Breed Specialist Judge Mr Stephen McElhone of Macridge Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
