Padme is our latest addition to the Amakhosi family.
She is one of Makena and JD's (Gr Ch Kargnieulan Tennessee AI) pups born October 31, 2005.

My sons are very keen Star Wars fans, hence her name (Padme is the mother of Luke and Leia and the wife of Annakin Skywalker for those non Star Wars readers). I would have had 3 very disappointed young people if I did not agree to this name. It is actually a buddhist name which means lotus flower, which is a lucky symbol in buddhism. We hope it will be a lucky name for her. It does follow a theme from her mother as Makena's show name is translated to 'go with luck the happy one'.

Padme started her show career in Brisbane in February 2006. At her very first show she was awarded Baby of Breed over 4 other RR babies (one of which was nearly 6 months old and Padme was just 3 months), and was shortlisted for Baby in Group out of a large lineup of baby puppies in group 4. She moved around the ring like a professional and stood well also. It probably helped having Amanda on the end of the lead. It is amazing what she can get a dog to do! Hopefully this will be the beginning of a long and successful show career.
Padme won Baby in Show at her 2nd show!
We went to a weekend of shows at Murwillumbah (NSW) under 3 different New Zealand judges over the weekend. She was awarded Baby in Group at all three shows, taking out Baby in Show at the first of the three and on the second day being awarded 3rd in the Baby Puppy Sweepstakes from a class of 30 baby puppies (all breeds!).
We were very proud of her achievements. It was on this same weekend that her mother achieved the final points towards her Grand Champion title!

We decided to sell our house in March of this year, which put showing the dogs on hold for most of the year. This has given Padme time to mature and we hope to have her out much more in 2007. It is now starting to warm up as we come into summer, so the show season is starting to slow down also. Makena will enter semi retirement in 2007, so Padme will have large paws to fill!

Padme had just turned 1yo when this photo with Amanda was taken. It was a horribly hot day and she really didn't want to stand here any longer and have her photo taken! Typical RR fashion.

Padme (8mths) loves to sit on things! She is squinting a bit as she was looking into the sun when I took this photo of her. Have a look in the photo gallery to see her and her mum, Makena on the bench together.
